Out of all the companies I've dealt with in my 20+ years investing, Assured has disappointed me the most. My journey started when I attended a paid investor dinner presentation at Gary Williams (founder) house mid last year. My vegetarian dietary preference was overlooked by Gary's PA Leanne so there was nothing for me to eat, besides a biscuit. When I turned down the Bali investment opportunity, a SMSF house and land package was offered in Tarneit Victoria which was promoted as a high growth market. My research suggested the opposite was taking place however in my phone call with Gary he was adamant this wasn't the case, so I overlooked key points in my due diligence based on the trust and integrity this company promoted, especially after reading Gary's book Winning. Settlement was a hassle because the property came in deep below valuation which resulted in penalty interest being charged by the developer, which Leanne told me at least twice wouldn't occur, leaning on the relationship they had with the builder. The property has been on the market coming on 3 months at $100 a week below the appraised rent amount and I still can't find a renter. In my call with Gary, instead of acknowledging the broken promises, he deflected blame to the conveyancer which seemed like a desperate play to avoid shaving into his commission. Kim, Gary's daughter was my mortgage broker, who was efficient and did her best but intentionally delayed the submission of my loan documents which contributed to the penalty interest debacle, so lesson learned - trust no one in this industry.
